Matt Doyle, an investigator with the Harris County Medical Examiner's office, said forensic pathologist Dr. Kathy Haden-Pinneri had ruled on the cause and manner of the death of Rhonda Kay Walker after reviewing tissue toxicology tests.
“Ms. Walker's death has been ruled accidental due to the combined toxic effects of cocaine, morphine and Diazepam,” Doyle said.
Diazepam is a generic name for the anti-anxiety medication commonly known commercially as Valium.
Houston Police Department Public Information Officer John Cannon said, accidental death or not, his department would still be interested in knowing who administered the drugs found at autopsy and how Walker's body came to be dumped in a ditch along the 7400 block of London Road.
While an “open” case, Cannon acknowledged the investigation into Walker's death is not an active one, per se.
Walker's body was found not far from where she and her husband, Tracy Walker, rented a motel room on weekdays while he worked in the Houston area as an electrician.
When Walker was found, she was reportedly lying on her left side and her footwear was missing. Police reported no signs of obvious injury or trauma. She was identified through a Texas Identification card found in her pocket.
Tracy Walker said he hadn't seen his wife since the Saturday before her body was found, although he had spoken with her on the telephone that Monday night.
He found out she'd died when a Houston television station aired reports her body had been found.
