When it comes to losing weight, most of us are looking for a quick fix. For some women Brazilian diet pills appear to be the answer. But before you spend your hard earned cash you'll want to hear what else you can lose after taking these pills. 7Healthcast Reporter Dr. Deanna Lites has more.
Some Florida women did lose weight but they also lost their jobs. It turns out they failed pre-employment drug tests and the Brazilian diet pills are to blame.
Carolina Siervo discovered what she calls a miracle weight loss system. She's lost 60 pounds since July. Although the label says the pills are all natural some variations that contain illegal amphetamines.
At least four unsuspecting women taking the diet pills failed pre-employment drug tests. The pills were sent to a lab to be analyzed.
Thomas Moore, the Director of Employment Health Services, says, "In most of them it was amphetamines, we found a drug called diazepam. Which is a Valium."
Despite the potential dangers, the pills can still be purchased on the internet for up to $200 for a month's supply.
Siervo is happy with results so far and has no plans to stop taking the pills.
Moore says, "If its too good to be true they are probably the wrong thing to take."
